Website accessibility and the law.
Due to recent changes inthe law it is a requirement for the websites to compile to a certain level of accessability.
This tool will do a quick apprasial of your website to see if it is up to scratch.
The law now says that the all websites in Europe shoudl be accessible to all disabled people, in order not to fall foul of the Disability Discrimination Act. All the details are here: Disability Discrimination Act.
I was sent this statment by someone attempting to sell their consulation service.
\\\\\\\”It only takes one complaint to the Disability Rights Commission about your website for them to start an investigation, and if they decide to proceed with legal action, you could face a huge cost not only in compensation, but also for your company’s credibility.\\\\\\\”
- Anne-Laure Dupuis
Very few website will actually need to worry about it. Your website would need to be very large before it would realist be a problem. And the only people who would bother to carry out this kind of legal account would be charities that fight for human rights.
Anne-Laure Dupuis service isn\\\’t really fraud, it is ligimate and coul dwell be useful (by the way both of her websites don\\\’t compile). However it is scare-mongering, pure and simple.
What about various new sites I found whilst surfing. Here is a selection of the worst short stories you have ever seen, they don\\\’t promise to be anything else, but can be quite amusing. Here\\\’s a forum I have been hanging around in.
But enought of this, I have work to do. Bye.
